He’s the quiet brooding guy who’s owned my heart since I was sixteen but has refused to claim it.
I’m the naïve woman who believes that someday our time will come.
I just didn’t realize that someday would include waking up in Vegas with a raging hangover and a ring on my finger.
If we believed in fate, maybe one of us would’ve trusted that something more powerful than ourselves interceded because our love is one of tangled vines. As twisted and frayed as they’ve become over the years, they’ve never broken.
An annulment seemed like the easy way out. We should’ve known it wouldn’t be fate that intervened, but our Italian Mamas. They can deliver Oscar-worthy performances when heaping on the guilt.
We thought it’d be easy to pretend to be a happily married couple in front of our families for three months and then say we gave it our best shot and go our separate ways.
But nothing is easy when it comes to Dominic Mancini and me. Nothing.

Holy Banana Sandwiches Ladies and Germs! I tried to sneak this out of Piper and Rayne much earlier than this but to no avail, but man was this worth the wait! I have never been disappointed in anything these ladies have put out, but they are masters of the tease….
I have liked the air of mystery surrounding Dom from the start, when Enzo was talking about him in the Blue Collar Brothers, I like how we do get glimpses of his real personality, quickly covered up with a sassy smart ass remark, while we watched Enzo and Carm become the Unicorns to their women.
I loved learning more about the eldest Mancini that hid away, what he was sneaking away doing, who really was hidden in that thing he called a heart. I loved learning why he was the way he was and what he was always about Val, or in the other books Mystery-Woman-Booty-Call.
The Love Dom and Val have for eachother is complicated and amazing, truly a once in a lifetime kind of feeling that makes you feel their sadness and pain. There have been so many variables in their past and present that have dictated, or so they thought, why they can never be together for the long term. I was nice to also see the parallel of it fall alongside the Blue Collar Brothers, their cousins, and see how slightly similar Dom and Vals story is to Luca and Laurens.
I am also a sucker for the single parent books and that is why I loved Val so much too, she wants this but she is balancing her wants, her needs and the wants and needs of her son, who is a sassy teenager. She also wants to but doesn’t want to, have to take in to account her Ex-Husband and his mild celebrity and the slight complications that come with that.
I do recommend this book, the only reason why it go 4/5 bly stars is because, there were some parts that included flashbacks that kinds seemed unneeded, but that is my personal opinion.
